In No Man’s Sky, a Wiring Loom is one of the most crucial supplies needed to craft new objects and repair old ones. Unfortunately, even just one Wiring Loom isn’t the cheapest item around. Not to mention, unlike most other materials in the game, they can’t be crafted like Hermetic Seals and other vital components. So what’s the best way to find yourself a Wiring Loom or three in No Man’s Sky? Let’s take a look at our best options.

Sadly, there’s only one way to get Wiring Loom in No Man’s Sky, and that’s by purchasing them for Units (the primary currency of the game). Each costs 50,000 Units by default, but that number is deceiving. The price will actually vary depending on the star system’s economy and your past purchases. Every purchase and sale you make has an effect on the local economy, making items more or less expensive. For example, if you buy a Wiring Loom in one system and one system only, each consecutive purchase will make them more and more expensive. For that reason, you want to purchase them from many different sources.
If you really want to save some cash, though, head down to a planet. There you can find yourself a Trading Post. In general, prices are lower on planets since it takes more effort to find them. Though you can make this process much, much easier by installing an Economy Scanner on your starship. Once installed, this item can be used from the “Utilities” section of the Quick Menu (down on the D-pad with a controller or X on a keyboard) while aboard your ship. Finally, select “Scan for Trade Outpost.” This will mark an outpost on your map — which should sell you a Wiring Loom for cheaper than the usual price.

You can also get Wiring Loom back from constructed technology by dismantling them. Though this is obviously not the most convenient method.
