Desert Botanical Garden’s fall plant sale
What: Get your green thumb on and adopt a plant. The garden offers a vast selection of plants for sale, such as aromatic herbs, vegetables, flowers, cactus, succulents and agaves. Garden experts will be available to help you select the best plants for your home and yard.
When: 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 19-22.

How much: Free admission; reservations are required.
Día de los Muertos at Desert Botanical Garden
What: Come celebrate the beloved Mexican holiday. The garden’s Día de los Muertos event will feature a community altar centered on the iconic skeleton figure La Catrina. Learn the history and symbolism of the holiday and what it means to Mexicans while enjoying food, music, dancing and activities. Don’t forget to snap a photo at the floral archway.
When: Noon-6 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 4-5.
How much: Included with garden admission fee or membership.
Las Noches de las Luminarias at Desert Botanical Garden
What: One of the longest-running traditions at the Desert Botanical Garden, Las Noches de las Luminarias is a must-see. Enjoy an evening walking around the garden as sparkling luminaria trails light your way through. Food, drinks, entertainment and musical performances will be available.
How much: Tickets go on sale Oct. 2 for members ($34.95) and Oct. 16 for the general public ($39.95).
When: 5:30-9:30 p.m. Nov. 24-25 and Dec. 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 19-23 and 26-30,

- Adult Education Classes: Learn about landscape, gardening, photography, art, cooking and wellness. Check the garden’s website for the schedule.
- Majestic Mariposas: A living exhibit containing more than 1,000 butterflies. Sept. 23-Nov. 12.
- Music in the Garden: Six Friday night concerts with local bands. Oct. 6, 13 and 20; Nov. 3, 10 and 17.
- Cactus Clubhouse: Children up to 12 can enjoy activities while playing and connecting with nature. October and November.
- Guelaguetza: Celebrate the Mexican Indigenous holiday through music, dance, art and food. Oct. 7-8.
- Fernando Botero: The Master: Paintings, drawings and huge sculptures by the Colombian artist. Oct. 7-March 31.
- Dog Days at the Garden: Enjoy the outdoors and walk the garden with your furry friend. Oct. 7, 14, 21, 28 and Nov. 18.
- Desert Sol: Immerse yourself in yoga, cooking demos, educational talks and world music. Oct. 10 and Nov. 18.
- Lotería Nights: Play the iconic Mexican game for a chance to win prizes. Enjoy food, drinks and music as well. Oct. 18 and Nov. 15.
- Strange Garden: Get in the Halloween spirit and enjoy a night at the spooky garden with peculiar plants and mad botanists. Oct. 27-28.
- La Posada: Celebrate the Mexican holiday tradition with singing processions, traditional Mexican food and beverages and a piñata. Dec. 17.
