How to Make Aloe Vera Soap at Home – DIY Homemade Aloe Vera Soap Bar

  1. 500 grams VedaOils melt and pour soap base

  4. 2 Teaspoons of your favourite dry ingredients like flowers and/or herbs, sparkles, lemon zest and such(optional)
  5. 2 Teaspoons fragrance oil of your choice
  6. 1 Cup Aloe Vera Gel (mashed and pulped)
  7. 300 grams Coconut Oil or Olive Oil
  8. Double boiler set up
  9. Rubbing alcohol
  10. Knife
  11. Stainless steel containers
  12. Moulds
  13. Glass jar
  14. Wooden ladle

Method to Prepare Aloe Vera Soap Bar at Home

  • Preparation Time: 20 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 20 minutes
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Resting Time: 24 hours

Step 1: Cut Aloe Vera Soap Base

Open the packaging and take out the VedaOils Aloe Vera Melt and Pour Soap Base. Using a sharp-edged knife, dice the soap base in 1-to-1.5-inch cubes or less. Make sure to cut the soap base into small pieces so as to aid in faster melting process.

Step 2: Melt Aloe Vera Soap Base

Put the diced soap base into a stainless steel container and place it on the double boiler set up on a medium gas flame. Slowly stir the soap base while it melts in the double boiler.

Step 3: Add Oils in Melted Soap Base Mixture

In a different stainless steel container take your Coconut Oil or Olive Oil and heat it up a bit over low gas flame. Pour the mildly heated oil in to soap base mixture, blending with a wooden ladle till the mixture gets fully incorporated.

Step 4: Add Essential & Fragrance Oils

Now that your soap base and oil mixture is fully incorporated, you may start adding in your favourite essential oils or essential oils blends along with fragrance oils. The most commonly used essential oils for aloe vera soap making at home are Lemon, Lavender, Rosemary, Cedarwood, Dark Patchouli, Peppermint and Bergamot. You can also opt for essential oil blends like Citrus oil blend (Tea Tree, Bergamot, Orange), Herbal oil blend (Rosemary, Clary Sage, Peppermint, Lavender) and Gentle oil blend (Lavender, Orange, Patchouli, Cedarwood). Some of the commonly recommended fragrance oils for soap making include Royal Rose, Sandalwood, Jasmine, Oceanic Mist and British Tea Rose.

Step 5: Add Dried Flowers in Aloe Vera Soap Base

Now, add in your customized ingredients like Aloe Vera Gel, Lemon Zest, Sparkles, Dried Flowers and/or herbs etc. Mix your soap base thoroughly and allow it to cool a bit at room temperature.

Step 6: Pour & Mould Aloe Vera Soap Mixture

Start pouring your melted aloe vera soap base mixture into silicone moulds. Spray rubbing alcohol over the filled moulds to prevent any bubbles. Let the moulds sit for 24 hours before popping out the soap bars.

Step 7: Release DIY Aloe Vera Soap Bars from Moulds

Gently place the moulds upside down and pop out the soap bars from them. Let the soap bars sit for 1-2 hours before using. Store the soap bars in a glass jar to let them retain their shape and texture.

Safety Precautions While Making Aloe Vera Soap at Home

  • Avoid putting Aloe Vera soap base containing stainless steel vessel directly over flame. It may cause the soap base to get burnt.
  • Always use gloves to avoid burns while in the soap making process
  • Do not let children around you while preparing soap.
  • Do not use glass utensils for the soap making process. Intense heating may cause glass utensils to break.
  • Be careful while in the midst of the soap making procedure and take utmost precautionary measures while doing so.
