Ageing is inevitable. Your skin may begin to age as soon as you reach your 30s and can show signs such as wrinkles, fine lines, and dull, dry, or uneven skin. This can make your skin appear lifeless. And this would be no less than a nightmare! The experts claim that a good skincare regimen can keep you looking young and vibrant, slowing the signs of ageing. Natural ingredients, however, can also assist you in delaying the onset of early ageing in addition to your daily skincare routine. Yes, and what else could be better for anti-ageing than a banana face mask?

Dr Navnit Haror, Founder and Director of Derma Miracle Clinic, spoke to Health Shots about the reasons why bananas can do wonders when it comes to slowing down the ageing process.

Here’s why banana face mask is beneficial for ageing skin

Bananas are a wonder fruit for your skin because they are full of skin-friendly nutrients. According to Dr Haror, “It contains several vitamins and nutrients such as carotene, vitamins A, B, B1, C, and E, which help to make your skin look radiant by providing moisture throughout the day while fighting off wrinkles and fine lines.”

Dr Haror adds, “The potassium found in bananas moisturizes dehydrated skin cells, giving out that youthful glow we all want without having any negative side effects from harsh chemicals most beauty products contain nowadays.” Zinc, present in bananas, works wonders when it comes to combating acne due to its anti-inflammatory properties.

Additionally, bananas are also packed with amino acids that nourish and moisturize the skin, fading dark spots, reducing dryness and restoring suppleness.

Here are other skin benefits of a banana face mask:

From fighting acne and wrinkles, all the way down to preventing sunburns, there’s no shortage of skin benefits when it comes time for this healthy addition to everyday life!

  • * Bananas help in controlling excess oil and sebum.
  • * Vitamin A in bananas smoothens and evens out the skin.
  • * Bananas restore the moisture in your skin and hydrate the skin cells.
  • * It also produces collagen, which can make your skin firm.
  • * Potassium, along with vitamins E and C in bananas, is responsible for making skin look clearer.

A pro tip: How to use ripe banana for skin

Dr Haror says, “The more a banana ripens, the better.” That’s because it contains antioxidants which help prevent damage from free radicals in your skin and body tissue!

Banana peel is also useful!

The banana peel is also a useful tool for reducing acne as it contains vitamin C, E, potassium, zinc, iron, and manganese. Simply rub the skin of the banana peel on your face and leave it there for 5-10 minutes, then wash off with cold water!

Bananas are a great way to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. They contain anti-aging benefits that can have mild exfoliating properties, which will remove dead skin cells from your face for better clarity!
