COCKROACHES are a common blight for city-dwellers, especially come summertime.
They can infect your home even if you keep it super clean – but one homemade recipe for roach killer could be the key to keeping infestations at bay.

Nyathon Hoth Mai shared the cockroach-killing recipe on TikTok.
She said it was the “most effective way to get rid of roaches,” adding that it “works like magic.”
The recipe calls for two eggs, a third of a cup of sugar, and a quarter of a cup of boric acid.
First, boil the eggs on the stove and remove the yolks when they’re done. The whites can be discarded.
Mash the yolks in a bowl or container, then add the sugar and boric acid.

Roll the mixture into small balls and place them around your home in corners and infested locations.
While the sugar will attract the pests and the yolks help the concoction hold its shape, the boric acid kills by attacking the roaches’ nervous systems.
It should kill them within days.
Cleaning pros who have shared similar recipes online have warned that the mixture is not ideal for homes with pets, which can be harmed if they eat it.
Meanwhile, Kiki Davis, a professional home cleaner from Florida, shared her own cheap and easy recipe for roach repellant – which has the added bonus of smelling great.
“It’s been over a week, I have not seen ANY roaches at my client’s home,” she boasted.
Kiki heats up a pot of water on the stove, and once it’s boiling, she adds three heaping teaspoons of organic dried lavender per eight cups of water – or two spoons for a smaller pot.

Kiki stresses that real lavender is a must, and favors a brand that can be purchased on Amazon for $11.39 for four ounces.
With the dried lavender flowers in the pot, she brings the mixture to a hard boil before turning down the heat.
She continues to simmer it for four to six hours, which fills the house with lavender smells.
“It makes the house smell good. It keeps flies away,” she said.
She strains the flowers out before pouring the water into a spray bottle for easy use.
Kiki said that she also uses the mixture as a surface cleaner in her cleaning business, but one of the best things about it is it keeps bugs, including cockroaches, away.
“It kills mostly all insects,” she said.
The cleaning pro said that the dried flowers can also be subbed for lavender oil and recommends using 30-40 in a Windex-sized bottle of water.
