Thank goodness for dry shampoo, right? I don’t know a single busy mom who doesn’t love that stuff, and use it regularly. (By the way, this brand/type is both the cheapest and the best that I’ve found so far. 🙂 ) Did you know that dry shampoo can actually be really useful though when it comes to grooming your dog? You definitely don’t want to use the same stuff that you use for yourself, but this homemade dry shampoo for dogs recipe that I’m going to share with you today is perfect for helping to de-stink your four-legged best friend and also to help keep his coat cleaner, more easily.

You might be surprised to find out that using this dry shampoo can also help dirt and grime stuck deep within your dog’s coat to release more easily as you’re brushing them. To make the dry shampoo, simply mix all the ingredients together and funnel them into your jar.
To use the homemade dry shampoo for dogs, sprinkle a little bit of the shampoo over your dog’s coat, work it into the fur a bit with your hands (your pup will love that part), then brush as usual!
If you don’t normally work outside when brushing your dog, it might be a good idea to move outdoors when using the dry shampoo because a lot of the powder will fall out along with some extra dirt and dust as you brush.
Our dog Chuckers looks like he wouldn’t shed much, but the amount of fur that comes off of him is pretty incredible. We always try to brush him outside, or at least in the mudroom with the door closed when the weather is cold.
If your dog still looks a little dusty after brushing, just rub them down with an old towel to get the excess dry shampoo off.
