WW Recipe of the Day: Dr. Oz’s Green Drink
Since I had such great success with Blake Lively’s Juice the other day, I decided to rev up my juicer (affiliate link) and give another “celebrity juice” a try as we continue our Juice Fest 30 Days of Juicing Experiment. This time it was Dr. Oz’s Green Drink Juice, which I found on JuiceRecipes.com.

According to the site, Dr. Mehmet Oz drinks this green juice recipe every morning, and so does Oprah. He says, “If you’re feeling a little sluggish and slow on the uptake, you’re not alone. Symptoms of peri-menopause include fatigue and memory problems, which may be due in part to fluctuating estrogen levels. For an energy boost that might also give you a cognitive spark, try a glass of the phytoestrogen-rich green drink I swear by.”—Dr. Oz
How’s that for a celebrity endorsement from a most well known doc?
There are many variations of Dr. Oz Energizing Green Drink floating around. Here are the ingredients listed on the Oprah website for 4 (8 ounce servings):
Combine the spinach, cucumber, celery, ginger root, parsley, apples, the juice of one lime, and the juice of half a lemon in a high powered blender (affiliate link). Mix until liquid.
It depends. If you do a “juice diet” or “juice fast” which limits solid food and significantly restricts calories, you may experience weight loss, at least in the short term. The fewer calories you take in while juicing the more rapidly you’ll lose weight.
But weight loss isn’t necessarily the same as fat loss. It’s usually water loss. And you will likely gain the weight back as soon as you go back to your normal eating pattern.
Even if you don’t lose weight the health benefits of juicing fresh fruits, vegetables and leafy greens, include consumption of important nutrients, vitamins and minerals, which are vital for good health

I used the recipe for Dr. Oz’s Green Drink Juice from JuiceRecipes.com, which is made in a juicer (affiliate link) instead of a blender (affiliate link). I guess my taste buds are adjusting to the flavor of these healthy concoctions because I genuinely liked this green juice drink. I thought it was well balanced. Not too sweet and not “too green” if you know what I mean. Score another one for Dr. Oz.
If you are new to juicing, you may find this too “swampy” “earthy” tasting. If you do, try adding an extra apple or two or some pineapple to sweeten it up. Or try something a little more gentle, like this Beginner’s Juice.

Instead of peeling the lemon and lime and running it through the juicer (affiliate link), I just squeezed it in at the end.
