Nanny tells me she has been making these for many years and often takes a batch as a gift when she visits friends and family. They’re so easy to make and oh my! The molasses in Nanny’s Delicious Cookies simply makes them the best ever!

Also, these cookies are not only popular throughout the year, but they’re great for Christmas and holiday times and you can also decorate them if you wish!

Everyone is always asking for a batch of Nanny’s Delicious Cookies and having made these many times, it really is no surprise they’re so popular. This recipe makes about 5 – 6 dozen cookies, so feel free to halve the recipe if you wish, or indeed increase the quantities.

These cookies are very easy to make, and the flavors are out of this world. The molasses, or black treacle, in combination with the spices of Fall, so cinnamon, cloves, and ginger make these a perfect Christmas cookie recipe. Imagine the lovely aroma when these are baking!

They’re always a hit and so popular, so now it’s time for Nanny to share her cookie recipe with the world! So let’s get straight to the recipe and see how we make Nanny’s Delicious Cookies

Recipe by Pat Milton

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, add the eggs and sugar and mix well.

2. Then Add Crisco OIL (or Wesson) and Molasses

I put the molasses in the measuring unit that I put the oil in, and makes it slip right out.

3. In a separate bowl, add the flour, salt, ground cloves, ginger, cinnamon, and baking soda. Mix well and then transfer to the eggs and sugar mixture and combine until everything is well mixed.

4. Let stand for 15-20 minutes.

5. Form into balls (about 1-inch rounds). Put granulated sugar in a wide short bowl, Roll in the sugar, placing them on cookie sheets (UNgreased). I only put 9 to a sheet.

6. Bake on UNgreased cookie sheet for 10 minutes at 350 F.

When done, allow to rest for 1 minute then carefully transfer to a cooling rack.

It’s easiest to use a spatula to transfer the cookies

“One of my grandchildren likes to spread softened butter on the bottom, so whatever floats your boat. Have with Milk, Tea, Coffee, or other Beverage of your choice….but most of all Enjoy Nanny’s Delicious Cookies!”

TIP:

I usually use paper liners, and take them out and put them on a wire rack and while still warm, I brush tops with butter and sprinkle large grain sugar (or other) on tops…..Enjoy
