Making extra cash from your Apple iOS or Android phone has never been easier. Thanks to these mobile apps, you can make money scanning barcodes and receipts. If you’re a fan of in-person and online shopping, this article is for you. All it takes is trading an hour of social media a week for this side hustle. Your bank account will thank you.

1. Swagbucks!

If you’ve scanned all your barcodes and receipts but still need to make money online, start using Swagbucks. This cash rewards platform gives you free promo codes, lets you earn cash back and rebates, and answer surveys and play games to get paid! Plus, the payout is better than what other apps are offering.

If you have a PayPal account, you can cash out your earnings. And when you have enough points you can also trade them for incredible gift cards—including Amazon gift cards.View OptionsExportPublish

2. InboxDollars

Another cool app worth looking into is InboxDollars. The rewards app has been around for a while but it only recently integrated a barcode scanner. Use it to scan barcodes at a variety of locations (from Best Buy to CVS and beyond) and get money in return.

This free app will pay you $0.05 for every barcode you scan—so get started! But if gift cards are more your thing, InboxDollars can get you one to eBay, Starbucks, and so on just as easily.

3. National Consumer Panel

National Consumer Panel is yet another app you can use to make a quick buck. It will pay you to scan barcodes at home, at the grocery store, and anywhere else you happen to find them. Then, once you have enough points, you can cash out your gift cards!

You’ll find that the National Consumer Panel gives you plenty of perks to choose from, including redeeming credit to spend at Target, Amazon, and other retailers.

4. Ibotta

Ibotta works slightly differently. Instead of scanning barcodes, it helps you earn cash back from your purchases by scanning receipts. Recently made a purchase at Walmart, Starbucks, Sephora, or at any of the thousands of stores Ibotta has a partnership with? Then you will get awesome rewards in return. Ibotta even works with online shopping, so get those eBay receipts you’ve been saving and start scanning!

This app is one of the best cash-back apps for a number of reasons. It blows the competition (e.g. Rakuten) out of the water for being so flexible and easy to use. You can even link your credit card or store loyalty card for even greater savings.

5. Fetch Rewards

With Fetch Rewards, you can save money on your purchases, even after you’ve made them. Scan your receipt and upload it to the app—it’s as simple as that. Use Fetch Rewards with just about any itemized receipt you get, including the ones from your weekly trip to the grocery store. Then, you can receive your payout as gift cards or even as VISA cards.

6. Receipt Hog

The last app on our list is Receipt Hog. Because it gives you cash back for uploading your receipts, it’s a brilliant way to save money with very little effort. When you amass enough points, you can have them delivered as cash to your PayPal. Alternatively, you can redeem them for Amazon gift cards or VISA cards to spend your money anywhere you’d like!

7. Shopkick

Shopkick is the best app for scanning products and getting paid. It will give you rewards for uploading barcodes. All you have to do is complete one of the many tasks available. It could be as simple as walking into a grocery store such as Target, Walmart, CVS, or other retailers, and scanning a few product barcodes off the shelves. You don’t even have to buy anything.

One of the things that makes Shopkick so great is the variety of rewards it gives you. When you have enough points, you can exchange them for real money on PayPal. Additionally, you can trade them for all types of free gift cards.

On top of all that, you can also get cash back on your purchases! Link your credit card to the Shopkick app and start raking in those perks.

BONUS Coupons.com

Coupons.com is an app dedicated to giving you cash rewards. It’s an amazing helper when you need to save money. Coupons.com lets you download dozens of coupons to save you dollars at the cash register, but it doesn’t stop there. It also gives you rebates for the shopping if you’ve already made a purchase. If you need extra money, you have to download it. And good news: it’s available for both iPhone and Android devices!
