These conditioner treatments strengthen and hydrate dry hair by adding protein and protecting against breakage and split ends.
I love making my own hair care products like shampoo, hair serum, and heat-protective spray. Making your own helps to cut down on toxins entering into your body. And it is much healthier for your hair.
In the past, I have always made hair masks for different hair issues, whether that would be promoting hair growth or repairing damaged hair.
However, it was not until later on that I discovered deep conditioners. This product is perfect for giving the hair that extra boost of hydration that my hair so often desperately needs.
I look at hair masks as the restorer and a deep conditioner as the protector.
Both products share many similarities, and quite frankly, many of these products found in beauty stores are so similar, that they could easily be interchangeable.
Think of these deep conditioner treatments like a hair conditioner on steroids.
A typical hair conditioner stays on the hair for 1-2 minutes and adds moisture to the surface of the strands, while a deep conditioner stays on the hair for 15-20 minutes and is made with nourishing ingredients that penetrate deep into the hair follicles.
On the other hand, hair masks’ main purpose is to restore damaged hair, such as dry, brittle hair or split ends.
You might be surprised by some of the ingredients found in these DIY hair conditioners, but I promise they work!
Each homemade hair conditioner treatment is made with natural ingredients (found in most kitchens) and is simple to make at a low cost.

Coconut oil is an excellent homemade deep conditioner for natural hair. It has so many incredible benefits for your hair and skin.
It is no wonder that it is all the hype lately, and you can find it in many beauty products today.
Coconut oil can help maintain healthy-looking locks by adding moisture, strengthening the hair, and helping it grow faster.
The vitamins found in coconut oil can also help to protect the scalp against dandruff and flaky skin.

Are you looking for a deep conditioner with protein? This next recipe is rich in both vitamins and protein, making it a great homemade deep conditioner for curly hair.
So what’s the secret ingredient? Believe it or not, the main ingredient is egg yolk. Egg yolks are a great source of protein, can stimulate hair growth, add moisture to dry hair, and promote hair shine.
Protein is essential for growing strong hair.
To separate the yolk from the white, simply crack the shell and pour the yolk back and forth from shell to shell over top of a bowl.
Continue until only the yolk is left. Discard the whites, or store in an airtight container for breakfast.

Very much like the previous recipe, but with the added avocado, this avocado deep conditioner is great for damaged hair.

Avocados are a great source of vitamins and amino acids. Amino acids help strengthen, thicken and promote shine.
In addition to repairing and strengthening damaged hair, you’ll find this deep conditioner treatment very moisturizing, thickens the strands, and reveals a beautiful glow.
INGREDIENTS
INSTRUCTIONS
Hair type and condition will largely affect the length of time you want the deep conditioner in your hair. For the second two recipes, 30 minutes should be plenty of time to let the ingredients work, while 15-20 minutes is probably the most popular length of time.
It is not recommended to leave eggs in the hair for long periods of time. Though they are good for the hair, left in too long, they can eventually strip the hair, and bacteria can start to form.
It really depends on the condition of the hair. For normal, natural hair, it is recommended to do a deep conditioner treatment 2-4 times monthly. For excessively dry, frizzy, or tangle-prone hair, you may want to condition it 4-5 times a month.
If you have damaged hair, it may be beneficial to use a hair mask to aid in restoring the damaged hair follicles.
Just make sure you don’t over-condition your hair. Limp or overly soft hair are signs of over-conditioned hair.
All of these recipes are made for one-time use and are meant to be used right after you make them. Therefore, do not store these conditioner treatments.
The essential oils are not required in this recipe. However, several of the oils are included to promote hair growth and cleanse the hair.
If you’d rather omit the oils, that is just fine, or if you simply don’t have those oils, you can substitute any of them for cedarwood, sandalwood, peppermint, lemongrass, or lemon. All of these oils have significant benefits for the hair.
And that’s it! I hope you found a homemade deep conditioner that fits your hair type! Make sure you let me know which one you tried and how it worked in the comment section below!
