How to Clean Sticky Wood Kitchen Cabinets

Depending on the finish you have on your kitchen cabinetry, you’ll want to use the method that’s most appropriate for you. Necessary Supplies:

• Baking Soda

• Dish Soap

• White Vinegar

• A Old Soft Bristle Toothbrush

• 2 Microfiber Cloths or Sponges

• 1 Dry Cloth

• Large Bowl

• Linseed Oil

• Spray Bottle

Dish soap is a great wood cabinet cleaner! It’s strong, yet gentle on wood, so it works great with removing grease without affecting the finish. It’s important to use only a small amount of vinegar with this method, because vinegar is quite acidic which can cause serious harm to your cabinetry. The combination of these two cleaners will ensure the healthiest clean for your kitchen.

How to Clean Off Grease/Dirt on Wooden Cabinets

1. Mix a few drops of dish soap with warm or hot water.
2. Take your soft cloth or sponge and dip it into your soapy water mixture, and wring out the excess water.
3. Use a little pressure, and wipe down all your cabinetry and handles.
4. Dip your toothbrush into the same mixture, and add a small amount of baking soda to the brush. This will create a light paste allowing you to get into all the cracks and crevices in the cabinetry.
5. Mix a small amount of vinegar and water and dampen a clean cloth and wipe down the soapy water off your cabinetry.

Using Baking Soda to Get Rid of Sticky Stains on Wooden Cabinets

1. Like the last method, mix a bit of baking soda and water to create a paste. You’ll want it to be thick, not runny.
2. Use your toothbrush and paste, and scrub the stain for a few minutes in a circular motion. DO NOT brush aggressively, this may cause scratches or damage to your cabinetry.
3. Let the paste sit for a few minutes.
4. Give it one last gentle scrub, and wipe away the stain with a clean damp cloth or sponge.
5. Add a tad of linseed oil to a dry clean cloth, and gently apply to your cabinets to re-moisturize them.

You’ll never want to use any abrasive wood cleaners or steel wool on your wooden cabinetry, this will only cause scratches and potentially removal of the finish. You should also avoid using too much water when cleaning, as this could cause long-term damage or rotting.
