Blink is amongst the most popular smart home security devices brand well known for its security cameras and doorbells. So, you got a blink camera and wondering how to set it up on your network? Here you will learn how to connect your Blink camera to Wi-Fi.

You need a mobile device, the Blink app, and a stable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network to connect your Blink camera to a Wi-Fi network. Once your setup meets the requirement, hooking the camera to your network is straightforward.

Walk with me to learn how to connect your blink camera (Blink mini, indoor, outdoor, XT2, etc.) to your home network.

How To Connect Blink Camera to Wi-Fi

To connect your Blink camera to a Wi-Fi network, download the Blink app, and create and verify your user account. Once the app is running, connect your mobile network to the same 2.4 GHz network and set up the camera.

Ensure that your router broadcasts a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Blink devices are only compatible with this option.

If your router has 2.4 and 5 GHz on a single SSID, turn off the 5 GHz option on your router’s admin portal. Alternatively, separate the networks into different entities with different names and passwords.

Again, disable VPN and ad guard on your mobile device. They mask your device’s IP address preventing it from communicating with devices on your local network.

Being keen on these prerequisites ensures a smooth connection process.

Blink cameras barring Blink mini, require a sync module for optimal functioning. If you have a Blink mini cam, process to power it up and connect via the Blink app. You can skip to the second section on adding cameras.

Otherwise, if your model involves a sync module, let’s set it up before proceeding.

As stated earlier, download the Blink app onto your mobile device. Create and verify your user account and agree to the terms and conditions. Once all is set, you can start adding devices via the app.

Adding A Sync Module

Power up the sync module by connecting it to a working power outlet. The LED indicators turn solid green and blinking blue, indicating it’s ready to pair.

  • Connect to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Blink provides a list of Wi-Fi networks within range; select the one connected to your mobile device and enter the correct password.
  • Let the app add and update the sync module’s firmware. Don’t unplug the module during this process. Once connected, the LED lights turn solid blue and green.
  • Tap Done. If the module was added to a new blink system, this should return you to the home screen.

That’s it; your module is up and running. One sync module can control up to 10 Blink devices. Sync module 2 offers a local storage option too.

Now, you can connect your camera.
