How to Get Sprinklers in Stardew Valley

To get Sprinklers in Stardew Valley, you will first need to unlock the recipe to craft them at level 2 Farming. You can generally get here early in the first few days if you give all your gold to plant crops.

Once you do, you will need 1x Copper Bar and 1x Iron Bar to make a Sprinkler from the Crafting menu. To get these, you will need to explore the Mines and get around floor 41 to start seeing Iron Ore.

At higher Farming levels, you will unlock improved versions of the Sprinkler, which water crops in a larger range.

To use the Sprinklers in Stardew Valley, all you need to do is place them on the ground.

In the morning, they will water all the tiles they can, depending on their quality level.

Unfortunately, the first day you place them, you will still have to water the crops yourself since they only work in the mornings.

All Sprinkler Types

There are three types of Sprinklers you can unlock and craft in Stardew Valley, depending on your Farming level:

  • Sprinkler – Level 2 Farming, waters 4 adjacent tiles
  • Quality Sprinkler – Level 6 Farming, waters 8 adjacent tiles
  • Iridium Sprinkler – Level 8 Farming, waters 24 adjacent tiles

To make farming and crop-growing very simple, you will need to get Iridium Sprinklers as fast as possible.

They are by far the best items you can get for farming, and they will make the whole process extremely easy.

The basic Sprinkler only waters the 4 tiles next to it. So, it can be a bit tricky to place them right around your farm, as the way the level 1 Sprinkler waters crops will confuse most players.

The Quality Sprinkler waters 8 tiles around it, creating a nice square. It is much easier to make a layout with these ones, as the design is relatively straightforward.

Still, it will take a while until you get to level 6 Farming and unlock the Quality Sprinkler, so you should learn the best layout for the basic Sprinklers first.

This will allow you to efficiently automate the farming process and make your farm pretty.

Best Level 1 Sprinkler Layout

The level 1 Sprinkler has the weirdest watering range in Stardew Valley, making some players confused about how to place them.

Here is a picture of the best layout for level 1 Sprinklers in Stardew Valley:

The black squares are the tiles where you should place the Sprinklers, and the blue and purple tiles are the areas where the Sprinklers will water your crops.

We have made the watered tiles different colors so you can easily tell what area each Sprinkler waters.

As you can see, you will need to place a Sprinkler 1 tile up and two to the left to get the right distance between them.

If you want to place one below it, then you can go 2 tiles down and then one to the right.

If you have some basic chess knowledge, then you would know that the Sprinklers can be placed the same way a Knight moves.

Best Quality Sprinkler Layout

Quality Sprinklers are relatively easy to place, considering that they water in a square shape around themselves.

With these, you just need to keep a distance of two tiles between them and place them in a straight line in any direction.

Best Iridium Sprinkler Layout

Iridium Sprinklers work exactly the same as the Quality Sprinklers, but they have double the range.

So, instead of a one-tile square around the Sprinkler, you would water a 2-tile square around the Iridium Sprinkler.

Just keep a distance of 4 tiles between them in a straight line, and you should be good.

That’s everything you need to know about how to get Sprinklers in Stardew Valley!
