Superglue is a very effective substances for joining materials together with an ultra-strong bind. However, if this glue is accidentally applied in areas where it should not, the process of removing the glue can be very challenging – unless you know how to do it. Acetone is an effective substance for removing superglue from granite and marble countertop surfaces. Wearing gloves, apply a paper towel soaked with acetone on top of the glue. Then cover the area with some waxed paper and then some plastic wrap taped over that on all sides to prevent any of the acetone from evaporating. Leave in place for about 60 minutes. Then, with a dull metal utensil or old gift card, slide under the glue and scrape it away. At this point, the glue should be soft and ball up quickly. Finally, use a cotton ball immersed in acetone to wipe the counter. Then apply damp water with a cloth to get rid of any remaining remnants.

Dampen the glue with an even 50/50 acetone-water mixture. Let it sit for just a few seconds – no longer. Gently scrape the glue with a razor blade, holding it almost flat – less than a 45 degree angle. Let the blade find its way under the glue. Do not push the blade into the countertop. Observe and adjust the angle blade to ensure you are not scratching the countertop. Repeat the entire process until the glue is gone. Clean the area with a soap and water mixture or a safe quartz countertop cleaner.
Porcelain or Ceramic Tile Countertops
For ceramic or porcelain tile countertops with a small amount of superglue on the surface, use a few paper tiles soaked in an even mixture of dish soap and water to soften the glue, allowing for eventual removal with a flat blade. Apply the soaked paper towels on the area affected by the glue for about 15 minutes. Then, take the razor and slide it underneath the softened perimeter of the superglue, lifting it from the countertop.
Stainless Steel Countertops
Since stainless steel is highly susceptible to scratching, rather than using acetone, a cotton ball soaked in lighter fluid or denatured alcohol may provide better and safer results. The softened superglue may then be removed with a plastic scraper.

Laminate Countertops
You can use the combination of dish soap and water applied with paper towels along with a non-serrated butter knife or other dull metal blade to remove superglue from laminate countertops without scratching the surface. Depending on how thick the glue is, you may have to repeat the process in layers.
Wood Block Countertops
Since wood is more porous than other types of countertop materials, the best option for removing superglue from its surface is to slide a razor blade under the glue, peeling it away from the wood. Follow this up by sanding the area lightly and applying oil to the area to re-season the wood.
