How to Hang Wreaths on Cabinet Doors

Whether it’s for a kitchen, entryway, office, or anywhere else in your home, there’s just something so festive and charming about this look. Here’s how to hang wreaths on cabinet doors!

This is a really simple little trick, but a handy one to know about at this time of year! When it comes to hanging wreaths, I usually like a really clean, simple look so I typically skip the big wreath hanger and just take a piece of ribbon, wrap it around the wreath, and hot glue it to the top of a door. It holds really nicely and the hot glue pops right off when I’m done with the wreath for the season. When it came to hanging these wreaths on the cabinet doors in the back hall mudroom though, I really didn’t want to risk ruining the painted finish on these doors so I decided to do something a little different. If you’ve always wanted to hang wreaths on cabinet doors, this trick is for you!

Hanging Wreaths on my Cabinets

Well, it looks like I found yet another use for command hooks. Actually, I’ve always used the little clear command hooks to hang wreaths on windows, and you definitely could do that just on the face of the cabinet doors themselves, but I think that hanging the wreaths from a beautiful ribbon looks so nice at Christmastime and that old method of mine just didn’t require any ribbon at all. Plus, I’m looking for any excuse I can find to use more of this navy blue satin ribbon this year. 🙂

So before you begin, make sure you cut enough lengths of ribbons for all of your wreaths at the same time. You want to make sure each length of ribbon is exactly the same length because you want every wreath to hang on the door in exactly the same spot.

Next, take a command hook and place it on the interior of your cabinet door, in the middle of your door, right near the top. You want it closer to the top because this way you’ll waste less ribbon on each wreath. Instead of placing the hook as you normally would, place it upside down!

This will create a the perfect little spot for you to anchor your ribbon and the weight of your wreath will hold it in place!

Clever, right? When the season is over, just remove the hook, or leave it there until next year. Chances are no one will notice it. 🙂

I actually decided to try out these dollar store hooks instead of the actual brand-name command hooks and so far they seem to be holding up just fine! I was making a trip to the dollar store anyway one day and I thought these might be fine, and if not, no big deal. It turns out that these held really well even though my wreaths are quite heavy, so that’s good to know!

If you’re local to the southwestern Ontario area, I should let you know that these wreaths came from my favourite local garden centre, The Glasshouse, and they’re pretty much the best faux boxwood wreaths I’ve ever seen. 🙂
