Joe Rogan’s Morning Kale Shake Recipes

Published by

If you’re a fan of Joe Rogan, you know he loves to drink kale shakes in for breakfast in order to get a blast of nutrients to start the day. His legendary kale shake recipes have been floating around the internet since he first mentioned them in 2011.

Rogan knows what he’s talking about when it comes to nutrition, and his kale shakes are the perfect way to supercharge your morning and have long-lasting energy throughout the day.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at all of Joe Rogan’s Kale Shake Recipes.

This is Joe Rogan’s second rendition of his kale shake. He put a small spin on the original recipe by adding an apple and reducing the amount of celery and ginger. You can see in the Instagram post below where he shares his updated kale shake in none other than a beer pint. He says, “You’ll feel fantastic and have a big burst of energy.”

Ingredients
  • 1 Clump of Kale (amount you would put in a salad)
  • 1 Cucumber
  • 1 Apple
  • 4 Cloves of Garlic
  • 1 Chunk of Ginger (size of a car key fob)
  • 3 Stalks of Celery

This recipe is a spin on his typical “Hulk Loads” kale shake recipe, only adding some beets to it, giving it a red tint. He got the idea from one of his previous podcast guests, Rich Roll, who is a vegan ultra-marathoner. Beets are a super food known as “nature’s multivitamin” with a myriad of health benefits. Beets are an antioxidant powerhouse that reduce inflammation, lower blood pressure, and even improve athletic performance. In fact, many studies show that beetroot juice improves time to exhaustion during exercise (meaning you run faster, longer) and reduces the cost of oxygen for exercise.

Joe also introduced coconut oil into his kale shake recipe for the first time. You’ve likely heard of the health benefits of coconut oil such as increased memory and brain function, increased energy and endurance, reduced inflammation, and it even plays a key role in treating and preventing diseases such as heart disease and Alzheimer’s. When it come’s to coconut oil, there are less than great products out there, so make sure to get a high-quality coconut oil.

Ingredients
  • 1 Clump of Kale
  • 3 Stalks of Celery
  • 1 Cucumber
  • 1/3 of a Beet
  • 4 Cloves of Garlic
  • 1 Chunk of Ginger
  • 1 Apple
  • Coconut Oil

Ingredients for kale shake: 4 large kale leafs, 4 stalks of celery, 1 cucumber, 1 pager sized hunk of ginger, 4 cloves of garlic, pineapple

You know Joe Rogan is going to plug Onnit products whenever he can. This is the most recent update to his Kale Shake recipe that appeared on the Onnit website. This shake includes many of the same ingredients as the above recipes, but with the addition of coconut water. The coconut water loosens the shake up a bit and gives it a better taste. This is personally my favorite of all the kale shake recipes that Joe Rogan has released.

Ingredients
  • 4 Large Kale Leaves
  • 4 Celery Stalks
  • 1 Cucumber
  • 1 “Thumb Sized” Chunk of Ginger Root
  • 3 Cloves of Garlic
  • 1/4 Pineapple
  • 4 Tablespoons of Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
  • 16 Oz Water or Coconut Water

You can also put a “keto” spin on this shake if you are on the ketogenic diet. Just remove the pineapple, and add some MCT oil. Feel free to add additional vegetables.

This is the original kale shake recipe from 2012 that started it all. Joe originally got the idea for his famous kale shakes from his friend Kevin James “who lost like 80 pounds drinkin’ this stuff”, according to Joe. In the video posted below from 2011 which looks like it was filmed on a flip phone, Joe goes through the process of making his kale shake and his daily supplement stack. In conjunction with taking Alpha Brain and drinking the kale shake daily, Joe says he feels fantastic and that his brain feels really clear. Check out the original recipe below.

Ingredients
  • 4 Large Kale Leaves
  • 4 Stalks of Celery
  • 1 Cucumber
  • 1 Chunk of Ginger Root (pager-sized)
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • A few chunks of pineapple

The benefits of drinking a nutrient packed kale shake are endless. Blending up a kale shake is a fast and easy way to get an incredible amount of vitamins and minerals. If you can stomach the shake, you’ll reap the benefits.

Out of all the healthy greens out there, there is no doubt that kale is the king. Kale is one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet. A single cup of kale contains 684% of the DV of Vitamin K, 206% of the DV for Vitamin A, and 134% of the DV for Vitamin C – and that single cup only contains 33 calories! That’s just the start, as kale is also packed with magnesium, iron, calcium, Vitamin B6, copper, and potassium. Kale is loaded with powerful antioxidants, such as quercetin and kaempferol, that can have a profound impact on your health.

As we mentioned above, Joe Rogan prefers to use a blender instead of using a juicer in order to get all the fiber from the fruits and vegetables. To blend these smoothies up and not have a clumpy mess, you’re going to need a decent blender.

Like Dr. Rhonda Patrick, Joe Rogan started out using a Vitamix blender, but then switched to the Blendtec Designer 625 Blender.

The Blendtec Designer 625 is pretty expensive, but it is one of the top blenders on the market. Rogan even said it could “blend an iPhone”. If you don’t want to drop the cash it, we highly recommend using a Ninja Blender.

@adamkibler They both work great. The plunger in the vitamix is great, but I prefer the blendtec.
