Are you looking for a goat milk baby formula recipe? Are you looking for a formula that your baby can easily digest and that is nutritious? This formula has been used by many to nourish their precious little ones!
Does your baby have a hard time digesting store bought commercial formula? Are you looking for a healthier alternative to store bought formula?
Or, are you looking for a healthy formula to supplement your breast fed baby?
Then look no farther! This goat milk baby formula is not only something that you can make yourself, but it is easily digested and super nutritious as well!
To start out, I’d like to say that I believe that breastmilk is best and that if you have the ability and the option to breastfeed, you should.
Breatfeeding is excellent not only because of its nutrients, but also because of the bonding experience, the beneficial bacteria that the baby receives via breastfeeding and for so many other reasons.
However, this does not change the fact that many moms are unable to breastfeed their babies. Or that many moms do not produce enough milk and have to supplement. Also, don’t forget the amazing parents that choose to adopt and are unable to breastfeed for that reason!
So what options do these moms have? They have to provide an alternative nutrition source for their babies. That means formula.
Lets talk about commercial baby formulas available today.
There are organic options available which are better than regular formulas. But even most organic options are full of questionable ingredients.
Most formulas contain corn, sugar, soy and a bunch of other nasty ingredients that you can’t even pronounce! None of these ingredients should EVER be fed to a baby (or anyone for that matter)! And if the formula isn’t organic then you have to worry about GMO ingredients as well!
So what is the alternative?!
Healthy homemade baby formula!

I personally have been blessed in that I have never had to worry about my milk supply. But I have friends who have! And fortunately, for those that do need to use formula, there is an incredibly healthy solution!
The recipe that I am sharing with you today is from my good friend Melissa Bravo. Melissa wanted to find a healthy alternative to commercial formula for her precious daughter.
This is Melissa’s recipe that she fed her baby to give her a healthy start in life!
Melissa’s recipe is a modified version of the recipe in Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon. She modified the recipe because her baby seemed to spit up more after drinking the original recipe. But, once she made the changes to create the recipe below, her baby was able to drink the formula with no problem!
This recipe is full of nutritious ingredients that promote a healthy brain as well as overall body health. It is easily digested and contains essential nutrients that your baby needs for proper development.
And, all of the ingredients in this homemade formula can be easily pronounced! How awesome is it to know exactly what your baby is eating and that it is good for them?!
Here is a list of the ingredients needed to make Melissa’s Goat Milk Baby Formula and the links to where you can purchase the non-perishable items:
Water
Raw Goat Milk
Gelatin
Homemade Liquid Whey
Bifodobacterium infantis (beneficial bacteria)
Acerola Powder
Frontier Nutritional Yeast
Coconut Oil

Unrefined Sunflower Oil
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
High Vitamin Fermented Cod Liver Oil
High Vitamin Butter Oil
Organic raw chicken liver, frozen for 14 days and finely grated or desiccated liver powder or Vitamin B12
Blackstrap Molasses
As you can see above, I list three different options for the chicken liver.
The liver is necessary for vitamin B12 if you are using goat milk instead of cow milk. If you do not want to use the raw chicken liver you can use desiccated liver powder instead.
Melissa found that the liver powder tends to clump some in the formula though. She used instead a liquid Vitamin B12. I couldn’t find a Vitamin B12 to link for you that does not contain alcohol. So if you want to use drops as Melissa did you are going to have to find a baby safe Vitamin B12 either online or locally.
If you would like to check out the original unmodified formula recipe, a cow milk based formula recipe, or if you would like a healthy non-dairy formula, you can find them in the Nourishing Traditions recipe book by Sally Fallon.
You can also purchase this kit that contains most of the above ingredients.
Melissa’s Holistic Pediatrician approved this recipe for her baby and the Weston Price foundation also supports the Nourishing Traditions formula recipes. As a mom myself, I fully believe that we should choose to use what we feel is best for our babies! I can with 100% confidence say that I would use this formula for my baby if I was not able to breastfeed!
I would like to end by saying that you are doing a great job as a mom! How do I know this? Because you are here! Because you are researching and you are doing your best to find the healthiest way to nourish your baby!
Keep up the good work mama!
