So wait no more, and start reading this article. And, if you wish to find the best cocktail menu in Miami, visit Glass & Vine. Our mules will leave you speechless.
The first thing you should know is that this cocktail is super simple to make. With only three ingredients, you’ll be able to mix as if you’ve bartended for years. The only ingredients you’ll need are:
There are plenty of options on the market when choosing each one of these ingredients. High-quality products will make perfect cocktails, so try to find the best options you can afford. And, of course, make sure the lime is fresh and ripe.
Naturally, alcohol is the main ingredient of this cocktail. So, its quality will play an essential factor in the flavor of the drink. Now, we’re not saying that you can only make cocktails with top-shelf liquor, but before you grab the cheapest bottle you can find, think if you would drink it by itself.
Only include drinks whose flavor you enjoy, and you’ll always have mixtures that taste well. Our preferred vodka is usually Tito’s since it’s fairly affordable but still tastes nice.
Feel free to pick your favorite vodka and start filling copper mule cups with it.
Firstly, don’t confuse ginger beer and ginger ale. They may have a similar name, but they are nowhere close to being the same drink.
When it comes to picking a specific brand, we’d say going with Fever-Tree is the safest bet. Many people would say it reminds them of mule cocktails the most, and that says a lot.
It has quite an unmistakable fresh ginger flavor, which you don’t get with some other brands. Luckily Fever-Tree isn’t tricky to find, and with some research, you’ll be able to find a bottle.
You’ll need freshly squeezed lime juice to make this cocktail. For that, you’ll need fresh limes. Go to your local supplier and find the best limes available.

We know that using bottled stuff is way more convenient, but that’s a huge no-no. If you want to make the drink correctly, go out of your way and find fresh produce.
You’ll need some for the garnish as well, so make sure you have enough before going home.
Moscow Mule mugs are what made this cocktail famous. Anywhere you see a copper mug, you immediately assume there’s a mule inside. But what’s the secret? Why are these copper mule cups used?
Well, they make the drink seem colder. And, when the drink is usually served as a refresher during the summer, that’s quite a helpful addition.
People want to get cooled off by a drink, and this one feels super cold. Let’s go for a mule.
However, if you don’t have a proper Moscow Mule mug at home, you’re free to use a regular cocktail glass. You will lose points for the presentation, however.
The origin of the Moscow Mule is quite unfamiliar, even to the biggest fans. They focus on the flavor, not the story, though.
The Moscow Mule was invented somewhere around 1941, and more than one person is suspected to be the inventor. John G. Martin claims that he and Jack Morgan, the owner of the Los Angeles British pub Cock ‘n’ Bull were the first ones to create the drink. However, that story doesn’t have to be true.
A 2007 article from the Wall Street Journal stated that the inventor was, in fact, Wes Price, Cock ‘n’ Bull’s head bartender at the time. It would make sense that a person who makes drinks for a living would invent one, not a marketer like John Martin.
What is certain is that Martin bought the rights for Smirnoff in the late 1930s. Unfortunately, he had trouble selling vodka to Americans, as they preferred whiskey and beer at the time.
Martin’s bar also had a surplus of ginger beer, with not too many customers for it. Morgan’s girlfriend had a company that made Moscow Mule mugs, and when it all mixed together, quite a decent product emerged.
Simply by wanting to get rid of the unwanted product, a new and refreshing drink was made. Moscow Mule was born, and it’s still served in bars all over the world.
Make sure you check the ingredients list before you start making our Moscow Mule recipe. Without the proper proportions, you won’t be able to get the correct flavor.

The instructions for making our Moscow Mule recipe are quite simple, so as long as you got the right ingredients, you’ll be good to go.
Follow the steps and enjoy a fresh cocktail in minutes.
Step 1
Start by filling one of your copper mule mugs with ice. Then, pour in the vodka and the lime juice. Top off the glass with ginger beer and swirl a spoon to mix the ingredients.
Step 2
The only thing left to do is garnish your creation. So, get a lime wedge and finish what you started.
And that’s it! You’ve made your first Moscow Mule! Is it as good as when the pros make it?
Nowadays, every cocktail seems to have a bunch of variations you can try. Often, those mixtures aren’t as good as the original, but to certain individuals, they are better.
Here are a few mule variations we believe are worth trying. Make them yourself, or try them in a bar and judge the flavor yourself.
Simply replace the vodka with gin, and try your gin version of the mule.
Using bourbon instead of vodka is a recipe worth trying if you’re a whiskey enthusiast.
What else but tequila? Switch it with the vodka and make a Mexican version of the mule.
