Anti-aging face cream helps reduce signs of aging, wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots. With only 4-ingredients, this homemade face cream is a painless, straightforward recipe to whip up. And it’s budget-friendly.

Making your own DIY anti-aging face cream is one of the most effective ways to give your skin that youthful glow. We will be using all-natural ingredients like coconut oil, shea butter, and essential oils for this easy face cream recipe.

As I approached age 30, I decided it was time to make my way to the “anti-aging” section. I quickly found a ton of options for expensive creams full of ingredients I didn’t want to put on my skin. So I decided to take matters into my own hands.

After experimenting with a few different creams, lotions, and salves, I came up with a recipe I love. After a few weeks of using my homemade face cream, my skin felt softer and rejuvenated.

BEST INGREDIENTS FOR ANTI-AGING CREAM

Some of the best ingredients for aging skin can be found right in your pantry. Yup, you read that right! Vegetable-based oils like avocado oil and coconut oil both have amazing benefits for your skin, especially when it comes to wrinkles.

We will be using avocado oil, coconut oil, beeswax, shea butter, vitamin E oil, and essential oils for this recipe. Each of these ingredients plays a vital role in giving your skin a more youthful glow.

AVOCADO OIL

Avocado oil is a known superfood in the health food world, but have you ever thought of slathering it on your skin? This healthy oil is loaded with antioxidants, beta carotene, vitamin E and has anti-inflammatory properties.

When used on the skin, it will provide hydration, reduce itchiness, help promote elasticity, heal dry, chapped skin, and remove dead skin.

Research shows that avocado oil is a safe oil to use on the face. It is always important to do a small test patch before using anything new on your skin. I suggest doing this on the foot or hand.

COCONUT OIL

Similar to avocado oil, coconut oil is a well-known oil used in the kitchen. Coconut oil has anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and antimicrobial properties, making it great for cleansing the skin.

When coconut oil is absorbed into your skin, it helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by helping to keep your connective tissues strong and flexible.

I love adding coconut oil to homemade whipped body butter and sugar scrubs to get the amazing benefits on my skin.

BEESWAX

The beeswax in the recipe will give the face cream the perfect texture and it has many benefits for aging skin. If you want to make this recipe vegan, you can use soy wax instead or omit it entirely. Taking the beeswax out will change the texture of the face cream.

Beeswax has anti-inflammatory properties, is high in vitamin A, and can work as a natural exfoliator. Using beeswax on the face will provide hydration, reduce signs of aging, and help clear skin blemishes.

SHEA BUTTER

Shea butter is one of my favorite ingredients to use on my skin. It provides hydration; repairs damaged skin, can improve skin tone, and reduce wrinkles. It is the perfect ingredient to make homemade lotion and face moisturizers with.

Shea butter is a very gentle ingredient and can be used on sensitive skin. You can replace the shea butter in this recipe with mango butter or cocoa butter.

VITAMIN E OIL

We all know that vitamin E has amazing benefits for the skin, so of course, I am adding this into the recipe. Vitamin E can help regenerate the cells, improve skin tones, and reduce inflammation.

Vitamin E oil is one ingredient I really recommend adding to any homemade face moisturizer for aging skin. By just adding a few drops into the face cream, you get all the added benefits that go along with it. Just using plain vitamin E oil daily can help reduce signs of aging.

ESSENTIAL OILS

Several essential oils can be used to reduce signs of aging, fight wrinkles, fine lines, and improve uneven skin tones. Essential oils are very concentrated and it is important to dilute them properly before applying them to the face.

The best essential oils for anti-aging are lavender and frankincense. Both of these essential oils are gentle and great for sensitive skin!

Frankincense can reduce the appearance of age spots, skin discoloration, and sunspots. It also has the ability to tighten the skin and rejuvenate skin cells.

Lavender is an amazing oil for the skin and can be used to reduce the appearance of most skin conditions. It is a very soothing oil and can promote healthy, smooth skin.

INGREDIENTS

1/8 cup avocado oil

2 tablespoons coconut oil

1 tablespoon beeswax

1 tablespoon shea butter

5 drops vitamin E oil (optional)

3 drops lavender essential oil (optional)

1 drop frankincense essential oil (optional)

1 tablespoon arrowroot powder (This will make the face cream non-greasy.) (optional)

Mason jar

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Add all of the ingredients (except vitamin E oil, essential oils, and arrowroot powder) to a small mason jar.
  2. Place the mason jar in a small saucepan of water.
  3. Heat the saucepan over medium heat until all the ingredients in the mason jar are melted.
  4. Once the ingredients are melted, remove from the heat.
  5. Allow the ingredients to cool slightly, then add in the vitamin E oil, essential oils, and arrowroot powder.
  6. Stir until well combined.
  7. Secure a lid onto the mason jar for storage.

HOW TO USE ANTI-AGING FACE CREAM

Massage a small amount of the face cream onto your face after washing and using a face toner. For best results, use the face cream daily. I find it best to use it in the evening and allow it to absorb into my skin all night.

Some readers may find it beneficial to use this face cream along with a skin-tightening face serum. The serum can be applied before or after the face cream. You can also use this recipe in place of a facial oil.

HOW LONG WILL THIS FACE CREAM LAST?

If stored in an airtight container, this face cream will last up to one year. You can add an antioxidant like vitamin E antioxidant or rosemary antioxidant to help extend the shelf life of the product if desired.
