If you think about it, gardening can be enjoyable, relaxing, and incredibly satisfying; it requires attentiveness and time to understand the plants. Despite our best efforts, we are forced to look for a quick and simple solution when we discover plants infested with Aphids or mealy bugs.

Much research has revealed the various advantages that come from neem in composting and for soil. Now, we bring you the magical properties of Neem Oil and all the neem oil benefits to your garden plants.

Neem Oil Insecticide

Neem is an excellent natural insecticide and pesticide to treat insects and pests in the home.

The natural pesticide compound is known as Azadirachtin. It effectively combes insect pests like aphids, plant scales, mealybugs, whiteflies, grasshoppers, Japanese beetle, moth larvae, and spider mites.

When these pests take in Azadirachtin, it slowly kills these insects by working as a growth inhibitor and appetite stimulant. This double action results in the failure to molt as well as starvation. The natural ingredient is effective against pests that are above the ground when sprayed on plants. It can be efficient against pests belowground when used in drench soil.

Applying Neem Oil on the Plants

Neem Oil in the garden can be used to repel pests and ensure plants’ general health. Apply the neem oil spray over both sides of the affected leaves into every little crevice to ensure that the solution thoroughly covers the plant’s surface. Repeat every day until the infestation and bugs have gone.

Every month, spray all the plants in your garden with Neem Oil. This will assist in repelling any insects and will ensure healthy plants.

Apply neem oil as a soil drench to prevent root rot. Pour the solution into the ground around your plant and allow it to absorb completely. Repeat after two weeks.

Tips to Apply Neem Oil Spray on the Plants

  • Applying Neem Oil directly on plants is not advised. Make sure to dilute the oil prior to spraying.
  • Shake well prior to spraying.
  • To ensure a well-mixed solution, use lukewarm water.
  • After diluting, use the solution within 2 days.
  • Make sure to test your solution with a small area of the plant and observe for 24 hours prior to treating the entire plant.
  • Place your neem oil spray bottle away in a cool, dry location and far from direct sun.
  • To get the optimal results, apply neem oil in indirect light or at night. This will keep the leaves from burning and ensure you don’t hinder beneficial insects pollinating your garden throughout the day.
  • If you are sensitive to strong scents, wear a mask and gloves while spraying.

Neem Oil Insecticide As Soil Drench

Neem oil is safe for beneficial insects when you use it for a soil drench. The Neem soil drench is a general insecticide even on fruit trees. This is because the plant absorbs the most effective ingredient in the liquid (e.g., Azadirachtin) that is dispersed through the whole vascular structure of plants. When this occurs, any portion of the plant consumed by pests has pest control ingredients.

Azadirachtin also helps protect plants from fungal diseases when used in this way. Using neem oil as a root drench will protect your plants from soil-living larvae and conditions such as root rot.

Azadirachtin is highly efficient against soil-dwelling pests and pathogenic organisms. However, it doesn’t harm beneficial creatures like earthworms. Applying Neem oil into the soil around tomatoes is an excellent option because they are more susceptible to nematode issues.

How to Make A Neem Oil Soil Drench?

To create a powerful neem oil spray on foliage and soil to help combat soil-dwelling pests as well as fungus, follow this soil drench recipe:

Mix all of the ingredients and apply it as a soil drench. Spray your plants every month to prevent. If treating an infestation, ensure regular watering every week until the issue is resolved. The same mix is also employed to make a neem oil foliar spray.

Neem Oil Insecticide As Soil Drench – Precautions:

Do A Patch Test

Whatever type of plant you are dealing with, it’s best to conduct a small test to ensure that the plant responds positively. If you are using the mix to spray the foliage, apply the mixture to a small area of the plant, and then wait for twenty-four hours to see how it reacts. Alternatively, you could choose to try a dilute solution for the first time in order to test the response of your plants.

Avoid Neem Oil Spray on Carnivorous Plants

If you are dealing with carnivorous plants, AGRIKULTURE TODAY recommends not to use dish soap or any other kind of soap. The function of soap is to serve as an emulsifier. It assists in spreading the oil over the warm water so that it is evenly distributed throughout the soil.

When you decide to remove the soap, just make use of slightly warmer water and warmed oil. Mix or shake vigorously prior to applying.
