Even though I talk a lot about the color blue around here, believe it or not, I do love other colors! And I’m always excited to learn what colors are trending, not only in home decor but in paint colors as well. So when Pantone, Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, and others recently announced their Colors of the Year for 2022, I wanted to share them with you.
As you’ll see below, most of the trending colors for 2022 come from nature, bringing a sense of calm and comfort to your home. These timeless colors would work well in just about any setting and with any decorating style.

To give you some ideas of how you could use the colors of the year 2022 in various ways throughout your home, at the bottom of the post I’m sharing several inspiring spaces incorporating similar color schemes.
And if you’re also interested in interior design and decorating trends, see my post, 2022 Home Decor Trends and Design Styles You Will Love.
Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year 2022 is October Mist (1495), a beautiful muted gray-green. Described as a “gently shaded sage … evoking the silver-green stem of a flower,” I think October Mist would look beautiful in almost any setting-especially on kitchen cabinets-and just might end up being one of the best kitchen paint colors for 2022.
October Mist has a meditative feeling to it and would pair well with just about any hue and any design style. I also think it would make a great kitchen paint color. According to Benjamin Moore, October Mist pairs particularly well with Mineral Ice (2132-70), a silvery white, and Caponata (AF-650), a rich burgundy.

The color of the year from Sherwin Williams is Evergreen Fog (SW-9130), another muted foggy grayish green. This color is very similar to the darker accent color on our home exterior (Valspar Murky Sage).
Evergreen Fog is similar to Benjamin Moore’s color of the year, but is deeper and moodier, as you can see in the following spaces:

Behr’s Color of the Year for 2022 is Breezeway (MQ3-21). A silvery green shade with cool undertones, Breezeway is inspired by the color of sea glass, making it the perfect accent color in any coastal-inspired home.
According to Behr, their 2022 Color of the Year “evokes feelings of coolness and peace” and “encourages everyone to embrace the path ahead with uplifted spirits.” I’m all for that!

As you can see, Breezeway works beautifully as both an exterior and interior paint color. I love how it looks on the front door, above! Behr paint is available at The Home Depot.
Valspar‘s Color of the Year for 2022 is Blanched Thyme, an organic green (do you spot a trend here?) with warm undertones that would pair beautifully with wood tones for a natural look.
Blanched Thyme is described as “calming and nourishing,” encouraging “a calm balance within yourself and within your home.” This is another shade that would make one of the best kitchen paint colors for a kitchen island or cabinets. See Jean Stoffer’s kitchens, below, for some great ways to incorporate organic green colors on kitchen cabinets and kitchen walls.

Farrow & Ball recently unveiled its top five color trends for 2022, including a versatile mix of shades of blue, green, red, white, and yellow — all of which work beautifully together to create a sense of comfort and simplicity.
Although Farrow & Ball is a UK company, their paint colors are universally loved and can be purchased at retailers throughout the U.S. and elsewhere.
As you can see in the photos below, Farrow & Ball is loving a mix of blue, green, white, and red for 2022. And, while I’m not personally a fan of red, I have to say this particular shade (Incarnadine) looks lovely in these spaces.
Their rich Stonehouse Blue is perfect for walls and trim work. I also think it would look beautiful on kitchen island cabinets.
And, as you’ll see below, either Farrow and Ball Schoolhouse White or Breakfast Room Green (or a combination of the two) would make a great kitchen wall color for 2022.
While most paint companies are refreshing our spirits through a sea of soothing greens in 2022, Pantone is on the other end of the color spectrum.
Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2022 is Very Peri, challenging the status quo with a lively blend of blue with deep red undertones.

Not quite purple, Pantone Very Peri conjures up feelings of confidence and happiness, bringing a bright new world of possibilities to interior design for 2022.
Incorporating this particular hue of blue in your home might challenge your creativity; however, Pantone says they created Very Peri to be versatile and harmonize well with other color families.
I think if you treat Very Peri as a shade of blue-perhaps even pairing it with Classic Blue (the Pantone Color of the Year for 2020)-it could complement just about any space, bringing in all the virtues of blue while adding a fresh touch of liveliness and interest to your home.
I’ll be honest, since Very Peri is a newly-created color, I don’t have any interiors to share with you showing this exact hue in a space. But here are a couple of examples showing how you could use shades of periwinkle blue in your home:
Below are a few of my favorite spaces, all of which feature soft tones of green, gray, or a mix of both. I hope these lovely spaces will give you some ideas and inspiration as to how you could incorporate the Colors of the Year-or variations on these soft, muted tones-in your home.

Here’s another view of the beautiful kitchen above. I think this soft, muted gray is a wonderful choice for kitchen cabinets-especially if you’re wanting to add a bit of color to your home but aren’t quite ready to jump on the green bandwagon.

As I’m sure you noticed, there’s a common theme running through these soft, nurturing hues — a return to calm and simplicity in the coming year, which I happen to think is one of the best things about these paint colors.
By the way, if you’re not a fan of green (or perwinkle!) you can still incorporate the overall look and feeling of the 2022 color trends by incorporating a few calming, nature-inspired colors in your home. Here are a few ideas:
Thanks so much for stopping by. Wishing you a beautiful-and colorful-2022! Xxo Jane
