You know I have been on a kick to rid the toxins in our home, for everyday items. This does not mean we are perfect. Just that we are aware and trying to switch up what we can. Slowly. It is a process. One item that we did use was a room refresher. I especially like to have them in bathrooms when guests come. Or even in Finn’s room after I changed his diaper. Room fresheners do contain small amounts of chemicals, long-term, low-dose exposure can cause the same health hazards as a higher dose! Very interesting and a good reason to make your own, simple DIY room spray!! All non-toxic, simple ingredients. Plus if you have kids, or heck, just doing this with a friend makes for the best little activity! Make and take room spray. Sign me up!
This is the basic recipe you can follow to create your own blend!
If you are wondering why witch hazel? Witch hazel helps the oil and water combine and will help the scent linger for a longer period of time. You could also use vodka instead of witch hazel.

I talk about the Essential Oils I use HERE
This just smells clean. Thieves actually kills airborne bacteria. So after you have had anyone sick in your home, give this a spray all over the house.
Use this spray in your baby or toddlers room. Or really anywhere you want a fresh scent. I am obsessed with gentle baby essential oil!!! I diffuse it in Finns room on repeat. A couple drops goes a long way in a small bedroom. Great gift idea for a new momma!!!
Purification essential oil is amazing to neutralize bad odors. Cue the soccer bag and shoes!! Take this in your car when you pick up the smelly kids from their sports! Spray it in the hall closet. Spray it right in the soccer bag. You get it.

Spray this room spray in any bedroom. Especially before you settle into bed. Great for a guest room to refresh a guest room that doesn’t get used often.
Perfect for a smelly bathroom! Tea Tree oil is a good spray for any mold too. And lime essential oil is one of my all time favorite essential oils to smell!
I was reading in my book ‘The Healing Power of Essential Oils” by Eric Zielinski. And he said that ylang ylang has been long considered to be the go-to aromatherapy aphrodisiac. In some countries it is used to reduce sexual anxiety. So there you go! I thought this would be a fun one to make to give to a newly married couple, an anniversary or just to set the mood! 😉 And grapefruit smells so good! Nice pairing!
