Aloe vera hair masks can help restore damaged hair, strengthen the hair, and assist in quick hair growth. Aloe vera is full of nourishing vitamins and moisturizing properties great for the scalp and hair.
When you hear aloe vera, you probably are thinking, soothing sunburnt skin. But recently, aloe vera has quickly become more popular in the skin care and hair care world.

I have shared a few hair mask recipes on the blog already but only recently discovered the wonders of aloe vera for the hair.
Aloe vera comes from the thick leaves of the aloe plant. The plant is a succulent and native to Africa. We always have an aloe plant or two in our house ready for any time we may need it.
The aloe found in the plant is the best to smear on a burn, cut, and even in your hair. Aloe contains antioxidants, vitamins A and C and has anti-inflammatory properties making it great for the scalp and hair.
Applying aloe to the hair makes the best hair mask, can clarify hair, restore damaged hair and eliminate a dry, flaky scalp. Aloe vera is often found in conventional shampoos and conditioners.
All you need to make an aloe hair mask is aloe vera, argan oil, honey, and essential oils. The added essential oils allow this aloe hair mask to help with hair growth.
I also added rosemary and lavender essential oil to help stimulate the hair follicles to help the hair grow thicker, longer and faster.
A really good hair mask can be made right at home with ingredients you probably already have on hand. Mixing together pure Aloe vera, a carrier oil, and honey can make the best hair mask for all hair types.

Aloe vera gel is great for the hair and can add hydration to dry damaged hair. Adding Aloe vera juice to shampoos or sea salt sprays is a simple way to add nutrition to your hair.
In this recipe, I used aloe straight from the leaves of my aloe plant. You can do this by cutting a leaf from the plant and putting a long slit in it with a sharp knife. Then, using a spoon, scoop out the gel.
To avoid permanent damage to your plant, use a sharp knife to cut the leaf, rather than pulling or tearing it off of the aloe plant; that way, it will grow back for later use.
If you don’t have an aloe plant, you can purchase pure Aloe vera gel from most health food stores. Be sure to check the ingredients, as some brands contain adders and fillers. Pure Aloe vera will work best.
Argan oil has many benefits for the hair, which is why I am choosing this carrier oil for the hair mask. If you don’t have argan, you can use a different carrier oil for this recipe. Other carrier oils that would work are coconut oil, sweet almond oil, or avocado oil.
Argan oil is a good source of fatty acids and can add moisture to dry hair. The phenols, vitamins, and antioxidants found in argan oil are known for promoting healthy hair and helping the hair to grow thick and long.
To add shine and make your hair silky smooth, you can add a few drops of argan oil to your favorite shampoo or conditioner. Argan oil is commonly used in beard shampoos and beard oil as it can tame unruly thick hair.
I know it may seem strange to put honey in your hair voluntarily, but it really is good for it. It may be a sticky mess, but honey is full of vitamins that will leave your hair healthy and smooth.
Like all the ingredients in this hair mask, honey will help add moisture to your hair and restore damaged locks. Honey is also one of the best ingredients to add to your hair for shine and texture.

I am using raw honey from a local bee farm, but if you don’t have access to that, you can get organic honey from most stores. If you can find raw honey, that would be best.
All good hair masks should include a few essential oils. Essential oils not only make your hair smell beautiful, but they also pack the mask with tons of benefits.
Lavender, tea tree, and rosemary are a few of my favorite oils for hair. These oils can help cleanse the hair, reduce itchy scalp, and strengthen the hair. Rosemary is probably the most popular oil for hair and following up with a rosemary shampoo will do wonders for those who have thinning hair.
If you have sensitive skin, you may want to stick to lavender or roman chamomile essential oil. These two oils are very gentle and work great for baby wash or for anyone with sensitive skin.
If you suffer from dandruff or an extremely dry scalp, you may want to add apple cider vinegar to your hair mask. ACV can help balance pH levels, shred dead skin cells, and reduce skin irritations.
Following the same recipe for the Aloe vera hair mask, add in 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. Or try my apple cider vinegar rinse.
Apple cider vinegar can leave your hair soft and restore shine. So why not try it today? If you made and loved this hair mask, be sure to leave a review and comment below on how it worked for you!
