i have posted quite a few rava or semolina based dessert recipes in my blog. each has its own uniqueness as each recipe differs in the way it is made. particularly in north india, the same (almost same) recipe is known as sooji ka halwa or suji halwa. the recipe is denser and does not have any saffron colour to it. further in south india, there are many variations to the sheera recipe. the recipe i have posted is the basic one, but you may add choice of tropical fruit to make it versatile. for instance slices of pineapple, banana, orange and even seasonal mango slices are added to make it as pudding. however in this recipe, i have limited to the basic version without any adulteration.

anyway, some of the tips, suggestions and variations for a moist and rich rava sheera recipe. firstly, always use coarse or bombay rava for this dessert. do not ever attempt the recipe with fine semolina or bansi rava as it may end up as a mess. secondly, if you are planning to add any choice of fruit, you are more than welcome to do so. however you may have to control the amount of sugar added to it. perhaps reducing the quantity accordingly would be a better option. lastly, i have added yellow food colour to get a bright yellow colour. you can alternatively add kesar or turmeric to get the golden bright saffron colour.
