Pale Ale is the second-most profitable of all Artisan Goods used in a Keg in Stardew Valley. You get Pale Ale by making it yourself using Hops, which takes just one to two days to create once you have the right ingredients.
Drinking the Pale Ale will give you a Tipsy buff, which reduces your speed by one for 30 seconds. Creating this drink is relatively quick and easy to do, and this guide will walk you through every step.

In order to produce Pale Ale, you’ll need to first gather two things: Hops and a Keg.
In order to get Hops, you will need to purchase the Hops Starter from Pierre’s General Store for 60g. Alternatively, you can purchase it from JojaMart for 60g if you have a membership, or for 75g if you don’t.

Plant your starter seeds in the summer, or in the Greenhouse/on the Island Farm at any time of the year. They grow on a trellis, so be sure to leave walking space between the crops, otherwise you may not be able to water or harvest them.
On the 12th day after you plant, return to find some fully grown Hops ready to be harvested. You can now harvest more Hops every day going forward.
To craft a Keg, you will need to be Farming Level 8, as that is when you learn the recipe. If you’re already a high enough level, then go ahead and craft one using the following ingredients:
If you’re not Farming Level 8, you can get accumulate XP by harvesting, petting farm animals, shearing sheep, milking animals, picking up animal products, etc..
You’ll need 6900 XP to reach Level 8 from scratch, but if you don’t want to wait, you can try to complete the Artisan Bundle, one of the bundles in the Pantry. Filling out six items in the bundle will reward you with a Keg.

With your Hops and Keg ready to go, interact with the Keg while holding the Hops to place them inside. It will take roughly a day and a half for the Hops to become Pale Ale, so just check back in a little while for your product.
If you want to increase the profit you would make, you’re going to want to age it. Like all alcoholic beverages in the game, this will increase its value. This is a bit more involved as it requires a Cask.
After upgrading your house to include a nursey, talk to Robin at the Carpenter Shop and request the Cellar upgrade. This will be quite expensive, totaling 100 thousand gold, but it will come with 33 Casks.
Place Pale Ales into these Casks and leave them be for:
Aging it to Iridium quality can cause it to sell at double the price, so if you’re willing to wait, it’s a very effective way of making money. Iridium quality Pale Ale will sell for 600g, or 840g of you have the Artisan profession. Standard Pale Ale sells for 300g, or 420g as an Artisan.
As you can harvest your Hops every day, move them to your Kegs, then to your Casks, Pale Ale can be created on a sort of assembly line. This makes it one of the best and easiest ways to make massive profits in Stardew Valley. This isn’t all the tips we have for the game, though. Check out our other Stardew Valley guides.
