The Amazing Liver and Gallbladder Flush Instructions

One of the most satisfying cleanses I have ever done is the amazing liver and gallbladder flush by Andreas Moritz. In this post I will share the amazing liver and gallbladder flush instructions along with my experience and results from following the Andreas Moritz liver flush.

I was so excited and blown away by my results after doing the liver and gallbladder cleanse that I got at least ten of my friends to do the liver and gallbladder flush using the Andreas Moritz method.

Only one out of those ten people did not flush any stones. Everyone else did.

That is a high number of people that I knew that had liver and gallbladder stones, and many of us were young and healthy. Those numbers go to show how many people have gallbladder stones resulting in a sluggish liver and gallbladder.

It is the best liver and gallbladder cleanse I have ever done. But let me warn you that this is a very intense liver cleanse that needs the appropriate pre cleanse diet to prep your liver, and the liver and gallbladder flush instructions must be followed to a tee!

As I continue to research nutrition, weight loss, SIBO, gut health, and insulin resistance, I continue to find a sluggish liver and gallbladder as the root cause of many health problems that lie far beyond the classic symptoms of a sluggish gallbladder.

So yes, I am obsessed with supporting and cleansing the liver and gallbladder. It’s the organ that I find needs the most support. I am writing this article 9 years after doing my first liver and gallbladder flush.

While I now use and recommend more gentle ways to cleanse a sluggish gallbladder and prevent the formation of stones, it feels like I have come full circle back to where my health journey initially started.

I first became aware of the amazing liver and gallbladder flush protocol when I was going to school to get my advanced dermal skincare certificate. At the time, I had congested skin with large pores.

My skin was very reactive and had a ton of inflammation. I had a feeling that healing my skin had more to do with nutrition and my body than just the topical skincare products I put on my skin.

In the search for my answers, I came across the amazing liver and gallbladder flush book by Andreas Moritz. For the first time, I started to learn about the importance of a healthy liver and gallbladder.

I was blown away by all the health conditions related to a sluggish liver and gallbladder. I was more than excited to do the liver and gallbladder flush to find out if I had any stones.

Why is liver function so important for optimal health and digestion?

According to Andreas Moritz, most gallstones form in the liver compared to the few that occur in the gallbladder. Twenty percent of people develop gallstones in their gallbladder, but many more people have gallstones in their liver.

It takes many years of chronic liver congestion before liver damage becomes apparent, and liver enzymes become elevated.

Liver stones are referred to as intrahepatic gallstones. These gallstones that build up in the liver can hinder the ability of the liver to produce bile.

A robust digestive system requires the liver to produce 1-1.5 liters of bile per day. Any less will cause problems digesting foods (especially fats), waste elimination, and blood detoxification.

Many people only produce 1 cup of bile or less per day. Andreas Moritz links most common diseases due to gallstones blocking bile ducts in the liver and gallbladder. As a result of reduced bile availability, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth can occur. Insuffiencet bile production and flow also hinders phase 3 liver detoxification.

The liver is the largest internal organ in the body with over 500 functions and plays a primary role in detoxifying the body. If the liver cannot detoxify effectively toxins and waste materials build up in the body and blood. It is such an important organ for maintaining overall health in the body.

The gallbladder and liver cleanse by Andreas Moritz is by far the most intense, yet effective cleanse I have done to cleanse the liver and gallbladder.

The amazing liver and gallbladder flush requires six days of preparation followed by 16-20 hours of actual cleansing.

Ingredients you will need for the amazing liver and gallbladder flush

  • Six 1 liter containers of organic apple juice
  • 4 tablespoons of epsom salts dissolved in 3 cups of water
  • ½ cup cold-pressed olive oil
  • 2/3 cups fresh grapefruit juice
  • 2 1 liter mason jars to mix the olive oil and grapefruit juice. The second jar is for the Epsom salts with water.

In preparation for the gallbladder cleanse, you will need to drink 1 liter of apple juice per day. The malic acid in the apple juice softens the gallstones to make their passage through the common bile duct and gallbladder smooth and easy.

Drink the apple juice slowly throughout the day, in between meals. You also need to drink your regular intake of water per day as well. This post will help you to calculate how much water you need to drink daily according to your weight.

Dietary recommendations in preparation for the gallbladder and liver cleanse

Avoid foods or beverages that are cold or chilled as they chill the liver and reduce the effectiveness of the cleanse.

All food and drinks should be warmed or at least room temperature.

Avoid foods from animal sources, meat, dairy products, high-fat foods, and fried food items. A plant based vegetarian diet is best.

Do not overeat.

Andreas Moritz recommends an at home enema before the liver and gallbladder flush and again after the flush to make sure all stones are removed from the intestinal tract and colon.

The first time I did an enema but then on the follow up cleanses I found it easier and just as effective to use oxy powder instead. Cleansing your colon with oxy powder is a simple and effective way to cleanse the entire intestinal tract. It is absolutely crucial to have a bowel movement prior to cleansing and after to ensure that the gallstones are effectively eliminated out of the small intestine and colon via bowel movements. You can also do a colonic irrigation instead as well.

The day of the actual cleanse is the most intense part of the liver and gallbladder cleanse. Be sure to follow the instructions to a tee.

The amazing liver and gallbladder flush instructions

On the sixth day of the cleanse, drink an entire liter of apple juice in the morning.

Eat a light breakfast such as oatmeal or fruit.

Avoid all processed sugar, sweeteners, spices, milk, butter, oils, yogurt, cheese, meat, eggs, nuts, pastries, cold cereals, etc.

For lunch, eat plain steamed vegetables with rice flavored with sea salt. Avoid all animal protein foods, butter, and oil to avoid feeling increasingly ill during the cleanse.

Finish lunch by 1:30 pm and do not drink anything past 1:30 except for water otherwise you may have difficulty passing stones.

The evening is when you will start the amazing liver and gallbladder flush protocol. The timing in which the Epsom salts and olive oil mixture is consumed is crucial.

The primary purpose of the first 2 doses of epsom salts is to dilate the bile ducts inside the liver to make it easy for the stones to pass out. The olive oil drink will stimulate the release of stored up bile to push the gallstones out of the bile ducts and gallbladder and into the intestines where they are then evacuated via the following bowel movements.

Over the next day expect to have several bowel movements due to the laxative effect of epsom salts helping to flush the stones from the colon. You may experience some mild abdominal pain from the epsom salts as is it stimulates the removal of waste produces.

It is very important to follow the amazing liver and gallbladder flush instructions to a tee.

6:00 pm

Mix 4 tbsp of Epsom salts with 3 cups of filtered water in a large mason jar for a total of 4 servings. Drink your first portion of Epsom salts (3/4 cup) at 6 pm. You can add in a squeeze of lemon to improve the taste.

8:00 pm

Drink your second serving of Epsom salts (3/4 cup).

9:45 pm

Make olive oil and grapefruit mixture by combining ¾ cup of freshly squeezed grapefruit juice with ½ cup of cold-pressed olive oil in a large mason jar. Secure the lid and give a shake until mixed.

10:00 pm

Drink the olive oil and grapefruit juice standing up next to your bed. You can use a large plastic straw, or you can also block your nostrils while drinking.

Drink the entire mixture within 5 minutes, then lie down immediately after drinking, flat on your back with pillows propping up your head.

Lie perfectly still for at least 20 minutes before falling asleep. You may feel stones traveling along, but you should feel no pain. The magnesium from the Epsom salts keeps the bile duct valves relaxed and open. The liver is located on the right side underneath the ribcage. You can focus your attention to that area and towards the sternum and take note if you feel any sensations.

The following morning is when you will finish the Epsom salts and flush the gallstones.

Set your alarm for 6:00 am and drink ¾ cup Epsom salts. You may need to use the bathroom soon after drinking the Epsom salts, as it helps to trigger bowel movements.

Be sure to look for any gallbladder stones that float. They can range in color from tan, bright green and dark green.

8:00 am

Drink the last ¾ cup portion of Epsom salts.

10:00 am

Eat a couple of pieces of fresh fruit if hungry

11:00 am

Eat a light breakfast if you are hungry.

During the morning of the flush and afternoon, you can expect to have watery bowel movements mixed with feces and gallbladder stones, and then it is common to have stones mixed with water.

How often should you do the liver and gallbladder flush

To cleanse the liver and gallbladder of all the stones, it is best to do the cleanse monthly until no more stones are released. This gallbladder cleanse recipe can then be done yearly to keep the liver and gallbladder free of stones.

My experience with doing the liver and gallbladder flush

It took me four liver and gallbladder flushes until I had no stones. The first gallbladder and liver cleanse yielded the most stones, where I passed at least 20-30 pea green stones mixed with some tan colored stones. I only passed a few small gallbladder stones and some chaff by the fourth cleanse.

Every cleanse felt a bit different. Sometimes I was more nauseous. One time I was physically exhausted with muscle weakness and fatigue the following day after the liver and gallbladder flush.

During one of my cleanses, I felt a slight flutter under the right ribcage. I also felt moderate nausea after drinking the olive oil mixture with gurgling in my stomach.

In general, my health improved after the liver and gallbladder flushes. I noticed increased energy levels and clearer skin. My bowel movements and fat digestion improved. Optimal bile production and flow are essential to digest fat. Symptoms of fat malabsorption is an indication that the liver and gallbladder need to be cleansed of sluggish bile or gallstones.

After a couple of gallbladder flushes, I also noticed that the acid reflux that I was prone to significantly improved and was almost gone.

The liver and gallbladder flush by Andreas Moritz was the most amazing liver cleanse I have ever done. The gallbladder cleanse played a huge part in my journey through healing SIBO and improving my health.

While I thought the olive oil and grapefruit juice was going to be the worst part it was actually the bitter epsom salt drink that I struggled taking the most.

The liver and gallbladder flush can be a bit intense for some people. I now recommend doing a liver and gallbladder cleanse first through diet and supplements that help to support the production and flow of bile from a sluggish gallbladder.

Before implementing the liver and gallbladder flush by Andreas Moritz try a gentle gallbladder cleanse recipe such as the following apple juice cleanse with fresh lemon juice.

Additional tips for doing a liver and gallbladder cleanse

Supplements such as gallbladder nutrients and phosphatidylcholine, which supports the PEMT gene, are fantastic for cleansing the liver and gallbladder.

Foods such as lemon, beets, bitter, greens, and artichoke are great for promoting bile flow.

Here is a gallbladder cleansing beet juice that I love.

This berry beet smoothie cleanses the liver as well.

Eggs found in this low fodmap breakfast scramble are high in choline to support the production of phosphatidylcholine, which in turn promotes bile flow.

This post has a list of the best foods to cleanse your liver on a daily basis.
