Who says you can not enjoy the great outdoors because you have a newborn or an infant? There are many things to do with your baby outside the house that you both will find relaxing and enjoyable.

Spending time outside with your little one does not have to be complex. Keep things simple always, and have fun while at it.

Remember to pack your baby’s essentials like extra diapers, wipes, blankets, and a change of clothing.

Also, consider the temperature outside and dress your little one accordingly.

Outdoor activities for your newborn

Why not spend quality time with your baby on a beautiful warm day. Go for a walk at the local park or playground. Outdoor activities have lots of benefits, allowing your baby to explore nature.

Remember, whatever you do, your newborn will benefit from just being with you and being loved, so enjoy these moments.

Here are just a few ideas:

A simple walk around in the park

Walking is a simple outdoor activity for babies. It will also give everyone some fresh air to reduce newborn cabin fever.

Remember that your newborn should not be exposed to direct sunlight, so you should find a shady spot to enjoy the outdoors.

A trip to the playground

Your newborn may be too young to play at the playground, but she can certainly enjoy watching others running around and playing.

Do not forget that they are always learning. Even as they watch, their sensory pathways become active.

Set a camp outside

A short camp-out in your backyard can be a fun outdoor activity.

Tummy time in the backyard

Lay a comfortable blanket down on a safe area in your yard or an area of the park. And let her have fun rolling back and forth (if she’s a bit older) and lifting herself off the ground, giving her a little tummy time outdoors.

Playing outside with bubbles

Blow some bubbles into the air. Babies love to watch them, and it is fun to do this outside on a nice day!

Always remember to blow the bubbles away from your baby. So the soapy water does not get in her eyes or on her sensitive skin.

Infant Summer Activities outside the house

Kids grow very fast every day, and what better time than summer is there to catch up on all the fun you missed while indoors.

Even scientific studies show that playing outdoors is directly related to brain development in children.

So make the most of it with memorable moments and take many photos.

Here are some outdoor activities your little one will find exciting and interesting.

Read books while sitting on a blanket in the shade of a tree

Babies like to hear your voice as you talk and read to them.

Reading books outdoors is a great way to improve your baby’s brain development.

If you can, make sounds to bring the characters in the book to life and watch your baby turn pink from giggling.

Also, if there is an animal or tree in the book, you can point them out to your baby, and she will remember it.

Plan a road trip

You can drive to an open field, the beach, or anywhere with a nice view, and sit on the trunk of your car and watch the sunset.

Your little one will surely enjoy this relaxing activity and may even fall asleep in her car seat.

Go Swimming

Once your baby is around six months, you can take her into the water for a dip. Just be sure to give her plenty of time to get used to being in the water and start with gentle movements.

Water play will improve her motor skills as she splashes in excitement.

Remember to apply and reapply sunscreen.

Swing in a baby swing

Push the swing gently and keep the chain in your hand for her safety. Watch as your baby enjoys it with laughter and screams excitedly.

Gently ride down a slide or on the lap of a parent or older sibling

This simple exercise is fun, and babies find it exciting.

Go for walks around your neighborhood or to a nearby park

The summertime is a great time to let your hair down and enjoy the warm breeze. Who says you can not enjoy a nice walk around the park because you have a baby?

Your baby can get tired of being cooped up indoors all day too. It is also a good time for your baby to explore her surroundings outside, the trees, birds, and people.

Invest in a sturdy stroller, and enjoy the great outdoors with your baby well secured. But do not forget to wear sunscreen and keep your baby shielded from the sun even when the weather is cloudy.

It is also an excellent way to get you to exercise.

Make a smoothie

If your baby has already started solids, whip up a smoothie using fresh fruit, like bananas and blueberries. It is also a fun way to sneak in extra vitamins! Thanks to mother nature.

Watch birds perch on trees

Babies like to see colorful things. On a summer day, take your child for a walk to a nearby park to show her the trees. Your baby would love to watch the different birds on the treetops swaying in the wind.

Visit a rose garden

Gently feel their petals and allow her to take in the scents of different roses (make sure your baby keeps flowers away from her mouth).ll

Stand or crawl on grass and feel its texture

Introducing your baby to the grass can be a fun activity. Some babies like the feel of grass, while others might not. Let your baby feel the grass with their hands instead of their feet. Once they are comfortable, let them explore by touching, walking, and sitting on it.

Splash in a kiddie pool

It is a great way to keep your baby cool, whether she sits inside the water or gets herself wet as she plays with the balls and water outside of it.

If your baby can sit up by herself because it strengthens her muscles and lets her work on her hand-eye coordination. Plus, it is fun and free entertainment.

Plan a picnic outside the house

It can be something new for your little ones. As you unpack the basket and lay various food items, let them play in the open and then devour the tasty food.

Take your baby to enjoy the tastes of a farmers’ market

Visit your local market to pick up fresh fruits and veggies. Your baby will surely enjoy all the different colors. Make sure to pick a basket full of rainbow-colored fruits.

You can also have fun making healthy smoothies and popsicles to cool off in the summer heat.

Paint with edible finger paint

Let your baby safely explore her artistic ability with edible finger paint. You can look up edible finger paint recipes online or mix food coloring with yogurt.

Lay some towels on the patio, and set your baby down with paper and paint. This messy sensory play will give you his first piece of art.

Make music and dance

You do not even need any fancy instruments. When your baby realizes she can make different noises, she will clap her hands and make funny sounds with her toys.

Enjoy the sights and sounds of the zoo

Bring her favorite animals to life by taking her to the zoo or aquarium. I bet your child will love seeing the different animals in person.

Fly a kite

Though your baby might not be able to fly a kite, they would love to see those colorful kites soaring in the sky. You can make this a couple or a family activity so that your child sees and learns how you interact with each other.

Play a color sort game

Sit on a blanket with several balls of different colors and allow your baby to drop the balls into the basket. She can sort them by their colors if she is much older.

Feel the raindrops while going for a walk during a light rainfall

Please make sure there is no lightning before going outside.

Get Messy

Do not be afraid to let your little one get messy and channel her inner Picasso. She will enjoy making a mess. Plus, it is a great way to relax outside.

After all, she has probably never squished sand between her hands before or made a mud pie. A little dirt will not hurt your baby.

Allow your baby to nap outside in the fresh air

Take your little one outside when it is time to take a nap. Breathing in the fresh air will allow your baby to relax. Do not take them to busy areas as they could get stimulated and skip their sleep.

A stroll in the park can be a good idea as it can make your baby accustomed to the natural sounds of the wind, birds, or water while they rest.

Take a trip to the beach

The beach gives your baby a variety of sensory experiences. There are different textures to be explored and sights to be seen. Hold her in the water and let her feel the sand beneath her toes.

A visit to the beach is a great way to soak in the warm sea breeze. Oh, the fun they will have when they also build sandcastles and water play.

Plan a movie date with other moms

Call up your fellow mom friends with babies and meet at one of their houses for a movie night. Make it fun by bringing popcorn and soda. When it is time to feed your baby, you can take a break, pause the movie, and get back to it later.

This is much needed for bonding with friends with similar experiences. Something you will be happy to get a bit of.
