Glow Recipe continues to make skincare easy (and adorable) with a line of colorful products targeted at every skin woe imaginable. Following the release of its Watermelon Glow Pink Dream Body Cream, the brand has further expanded its avocado-based offerings, unveiling the Glow Recipe Avocado Ceramide Recovery Serum.
Retailing for $42, the serum joins the Avocado Sleeping Face Mask and Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask. Officially available for purchase on Tuesday, here’s everything you need to know about the Glow Recipe Avocado Ceramide Recovery Serum, and whether it’s right for your skincare routine.

WHAT IT IS:
Glow Recipe Avocado Ceramide Recovery Serum is a creamy, non-sticky formula that’s meant to reduce skin redness, and provide skin with a layer of protective product. According to Glow Recipe, the serum includes avocado extract and butter, allantoin and rice milk, plus ceramides.

For those not up-to-date on their skincare jargon, the brand explains that the product supports the overall health of your skin. When used, the product’s ceramide-5 formula enhances the strength of your skin barrier, which in turn promotes healthier, stronger skin that’s less likely to redden, or experience irritation from everyday skin stressors.
WHO IT’S FOR:
This product is best suited for those that tend to contend with red, flushed skin. However, before solely relying on this serum, it’s important to address any underlying cause for your red skin, and what might trigger it, as this product might not be the right fit for you.
Glow Recipe notes that sensitive skin that’s easily prone to irritation would especially benefit from this product. Additionally, if the continued use of masks has left your face feeling irritated or red, this would be one item to try as a possible treatment.
FINAL VERDICT:
Intended for application twice daily, the serum stays true to its milky name. When applied, the product is lightweight and creamy. There is a hint of fragrance, but the scent is not overwhelming, and it quickly dissipates, meaning you won’t be left sniffing product all day. Plus, as Glow Recipe notes, the fragrance is natural, and comes from the inclusion of plant extracts in the product.

As someone currently contending with redness caused by wearing masks, I did notice that using the serum reduced some of the more prominent spots of irritation. The results were somewhat immediate, as I applied as part of my nightly routine, and noticed a slight lessening of the reddening later that evening. Upon waking, I found there was even more reduction in the appearance of redness.
Additionally, I liked the feel of the serum on my skin, as it didn’t feel heavy or sticky. And I didn’t feel as if the product stuck around or made my skin feel sticky throughout my day.
At $42 for a one ounce bottle, the pricing may seem a bit steep for some skincare enthusiasts. That being said, a little does go a long way, and in using for the product for the first time, I definitely over-pressed the dispenser. As the serum is so light, I found that it easily applied across the skin, and I didn’t feel as if I necessarily needed as much product as I might normally use.
Masks have become a temporary norm, and skin redness is a constant woe for many, making this serum definitely worth a try.
