I have a large family and all my kids love hard boiled eggs. They usually eat 2 or 3 at a time. I just don’t have a pot for the stove to boil a lot of eggs at a time.
Also, it takes WAY too long to boil them on the stovetop and half the time I would mess them up and they would crack so then I would have to start over all again. So most of the time, I just stopped making them.
That’s when I saw on Pinterest that you can make hard boiled eggs in the oven and I knew I had to try it. This is how I started making hard boiled eggs in the oven and I’ll never make them on the stovetop again.

You are not going to believe how easy it is make hard boiled eggs in the oven. Soon you’ll be wondering why you haven’t been doing this for years already!
First preheat your oven to 325 degrees F. Then place the uncooked eggs in the muffin cups on your muffin tin. I just used a mini muffin tin but you can use a standard one as well. Either of these muffin pans works great for this recipe.
How long does it take to cook a hard boil an egg?
I cook fresh eggs the oven for 25 minutes – 30 minutes based on how you like your eggs. If you like a soft boiled egg, then just cook for 25 minutes and cook longer if you prefer them more hard.
I recommend that you play around with the time to determine the appropriate amount of time to make perfect hard boiled eggs for your family.
Then I prepare a large ice bath by filling a large bowl with ice and cold water. After the eggs are done cooking, place them in the ice bath immediately and allow them to soak for approximately 10 minutes.
After this time, remove the eggs and they are ready to be peeled and enjoyed!
Can hard boiled eggs in oven explode if left in the oven too long?
When I started sharing my new favorite cooking hack with my friends, this was definitely the number one concern. Most people were afraid that the eggs would explode in the oven. Then those eggs would create a nightmare of a mess to clean up in the oven. I can completely understand that concern!

I have been making hard boiled eggs in the oven for years now and I have never had this problem. I think if the eggs would have to be left in the oven for an excessive amount of time for this to occur. I would not exceed the 30 minutes recommended in this recipe.
I have noticed small brown spots on the eggs when I make them in the oven. I think there is just the spot where the egg touches the muffin tin. The taste is not affected and it’s usually a very small amount that can be removed if needed.
Also, I, generally, don’t have any brown spots when using a mini muffin pan s0 I recommend using the mini pan if you have one of these types of pans.
Do you know what the best part is?
The best part of it all…The egg shell comes off a lot easier than it does with the traditional boiling method and the smell is much better! Now you can make more eggs at once without the fuss. It is a win-win!
If you have any trouble with peeling the eggs, try using running water to get under the shell membrane and then the shell will just slide off. It really is easy!
