As I’m sure you know by now, I’ve been preaching the importance of understanding the different stations that can be accessed while playing Grounded and while I have covered some of the uses of the Oven, including making Mushroom Bricks in tandem with the Grinder as well as the various Foods players can create while using an Oven, I’d like to take a look at the other various tasks players will be required to complete in order to make the most use of the Oven.
While this post won’t go super in depth into the topics we’ve already covered, I hope to answer player’s outstanding questions that will help them best utilize this station and hopefully provide some understanding of how to ensure that you are not overloading your Ovens with useless tasks and prioritizing which tasks you need to initiate.
You are watching: Oven | Grounded Guide
The following guide will take you through everything you need to know about the Oven, including tasks I haven’t mentioned in previous posts.
Note: If you want to watch me play games like Grounded on Twitch head on over here! I’m always happy to answer your questions there as well!
HOW DO YOU UNLOCK THE OVEN IN GROUNDED?
There is only one way to unlock the Oven in Grounded and that is to purchase it from BURG.L for Raw Science. Players will have to turn in 2,500 Raw Science in order to obtain the Advanced Production Buildings.
HOW TO CRAFT THE OVEN IN GROUNDED
The Oven is quite a difficult station to craft as it requires an ingredient that is typically harder to find than others.
The ingredients needed are as follows:
10 Clay
4 EverChar Coal Chunk
4 Boiling Glands
While Clay and Boiling Glands are quite easy to locate, players will have to head to the BBQ Spill area to obtain them.
Players should note, this is quite a deadly area and will require Antlion Armour, the Fresh Defense Mutation or players must be lucky and find a Quesadilliantlion meal, though the latter is highly improbable.
In most cases players will still have to run quickly in order to obtain enough Coal Chunks, though there are a few EverChar Coal Chunks scattered on the ledge of one of the fallen BBQs that players can pick up a single time in order to make an Oven.
Unfortunately, if players want to make multiple Ovens, they will have to risk their lives.
HOW TO USE AN OVEN
Similar to many of the other stations, players will be able to queue multiple resources at once in order to craft.
Players will be able to put different resources in the queue and do not have to place 5 of the same resource, meaning that a player can put the items that they need earlier first and then can spam the rest of the queue with resources like the Mushroom Bricks.
Ovens take a decent amount of time to finish producing resources, taking 1.5 in game hours or 3 minutes to complete, though players can shorten this process by placing all of the resources they would like to bake in the Oven right before sleeping.
In the case of Mushroom Bricks, I strongly recommend that players are constantly making Mushroom Slurry in their Grinder and placing them immediately in the Oven as you do not want to waste the Oven space if you have more important resources you need to craft, such as Meals, Globes or Jewels.
I would strongly recommend placing a Meal into the Oven before sleeping every night so you have something tasty to wake up to. This should not begin the timer for it to expire unless a new patch introduces it.
If players are in a good place, they can also use this method to provide them with multiple passives, though I would hold back on eating Meals as your first Meal of the day unless you’re very close to the task you need to complete. That being said, I cover Meals in depth here.

CONCLUSION
While it may not seem like the Oven has very many uses, it is one of the most utilized structures in all of Grounded, especially because it will help players craft a good range of resources.
For me, I tend to over use the Oven to make Mushroom Bricks as I’m predominantly a builder, however, we typically prepare meals regularly for the day in the Oven and will also always convert our Shards into Globs as in the later stage of Weapons you will need them to repair your equipment.
Straight up, I would say that the Oven is the most important station a player can ever have access to as it will help make a player the most powerful they can be, whether it’s through Globs and Jewels or through Meals.
Its versatility is so vast and I would try to rush getting an Oven as soon as you can as it will immensely help you on your adventures no matter where you are in the game. I will say, many of the recipes that are made in the Oven are quite expensive, so expect to stockpile well before you actually obtain the Oven.
But I’m curious, what do you usually use the Oven for? What is the most game changing element of having an Oven for you? Let me know in the comments below!
